You know, I apologize — you’re absolutely right. I think where I was coming from with that concerned the fact that many editors are male, so my thought process went “pitch to male edior > male editor accepts or declines” which is sort of like “letting you” but is bad terminology.

I’ve seriously been turned away from really awesome writing projects because the editor said they could sense the lack of confidence I had in myself (not the content) — so highlighting how I said “let” instead of a less pathetic, passive word was nice of you.
